akismet, the spam assassin
It’s almost 2 weeks i’ve activated akismet on my site, and i feel there’s something unusual happening here.
usually the pages receives a lot of comments which is i’m not expected, aka. spam.
sometimes i need to setup my web server to include the spammers ip address in order to reduce the spam rate.
it was tough job because i have to add the ip address manually, one by one, every time the spammers visit my site.
well, during this almost two weeks, those comments were almost vanished. there are still one or two are coming but those are not spam, in order words they are “false positive”. today, i check my site’s statistics and i was surprised with the amount of spam that filtered by akismet. it’s almost a hundred spam messages arrives on my site. wow!
the accuracy is very good, it’s about 94%.
all in all, i really suggest to activate akismet on your site to wipe out the spam.

Selidik punya selidik, ternyata mail server dia menjadi open relay. halah halah.. open relay maksudnya mail server tersebut membolehkan pihak luar (di luar network yang telah didefisinikan) untuk mengirim email via mail server dia. jadi bener kan dia berfungsi sebagai relay? yang menerima email, dan meneruskannya ke tujuan. nah ini yang bahaya. pihak ketiga akan memanfaatkan mail server ini untuk mengirim email sesukanya (biasanya spam). lah wong memang dibolehkan kok? hehehe
